Tsiga, Ex-NYSC DG, Regains Freedom After Nearly Two Months in Captivity

By Abbas Bamalli

The former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), has been released following almost two months of captivity at the hands of his kidnappers.

A relative named Malam Suleiman Tsiga informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday about this occurrence, mentioning that although the former general was in stable health, he was undergoing treatment at an unspecified facility.

On February 6, Tsiga was abducted from his home in Tsiga, which is part of the Bakori Local Government Area within Katsina State, alongside several other individuals.

His kidnappers first asked for a ransom of ₦250 million but later supposedly lowered it to ₦50 million.

Although it's still uncertain if a ransom was ultimately paid, his family and acquaintances have experienced widespread relief since his safe return.
